BOTOX ® for Hyperhidrosis

BOTOX® for the Treatment of Excessive Sweating

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating or perspiration that can occur in the armpits. This embarrassing condition can now be treated by the physicians at Refine MD with BOTOX®. When deodorant or topical agents no longer work, BOTOX® can effectively be used to reduce excess sweating. Patients typically notice significant reduction in sweating within four weeks of their first treatment.

BOTOX® is FDA-approved for excessive underarm sweating. The treatment helps control the condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the excessive sweating stops.
If you live or work in Menasha, Appleton, Neenah or the greater Fox Cities in Wisconsin and are interested in learning more about BOTOX® to treat hyperhidrosis, please schedule a free consultation by calling us at 920-380-9990 or 800-657-5570 or contact us.

Frequently asked questions about BOTOX® for Hyperhidrosis

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive perspiration - more than the human body's physiological needs. Every day, our body perspires to maintain constant internal body temperature. Perspiration is balanced by what we call the sympathetic nervous system. This system controls millions of sweat glands in the body. Hyperhidrosis can be sudden or episodic or continuous.

How long does the treatment last?

According to studies, the average BOTOX® treatment for excessive armpit sweating lasts for approximately 6 months.

When will I notice the difference, and how long will it last?

You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment. There is a possibility that some sweat glands may be missed, and you may continue to experience some sweating from the untreated areas. If you do not see a significant reduction in sweating, you should contact us for a follow-up consultation.

Are the injections painful?

The injection needle is very small so discomfort is typically minimal. The pinching sensation experienced lasts only a short time, and numbing cream can be used to decrease the mild discomfort. You will return to your usual activities without any painful after effects.

What happens as treatment begins to wear off?

After approximately six months, the effects of BOTOX® begin to wear off and increased sweating will gradually reappear. Before this point, you should discuss continuing treatment with our physician.

Is there any downtime?

No. Following treatment, patients usually return to their jobs and normal activities immediately. It is recommended, however, that you avoid exercise, heavy lifting and massaging the injected area for one day.

How much does BOTOX® for Hyperhidrosis Cost?

Every person's situation is unique and will require a consultation. Please contact us to schedule a complimentary consultation.
