Chemical Peels | Hydrafacial MD | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are an exfoliating skin rejuvenation treatment that diminishes or removes sun damage such as brown spots, age spots or freckles, wrinkles, active acne, redness, discoloration and overall uneven skin tone. Chemical peels promote the growth of new skin and collagen with an improved texture and radiance that is noticeable in just a few days. By sloughing off old skin, the body recreates new skin at a faster rate than usual; the skin actually thickens, stimulating the underlying structure to make more collagen and elastin. Results can be dramatic.

After assessing your skin, our aesthetician will choose the best chemical peel specifically for your skin and desired results. The most popular body areas treated with chemical peels are those most frequently exposed to the sun: face, neck, décolleté (chest) and hands, however, arms, back and legs can also be treated. The basic types of skin rejuvenating chemical peels include Lactic, Salicylic and Glycolic.

What is a chemical peel?

A Chemical Peel is a noninvasive, exfoliating treatment that relies on fruit acids, herbs and antioxidants to loosen the “glue” that binds dead cells to the skin’s surface. It increases the production of collagen and improves the appearance of acne, environmental damage, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. The result is smoother, tighter, more hydrated new skin, ultimately leaving you with a clearer, more youthful complexion.

What skin conditions can be treated with a Chemical Peel?

Acne, environmental damage, hyperpigmentation and melasma, fine lines and wrinkles.

How long does the treatment take?

A treatment normally takes between 30 and 45 minutes, although time varies depending upon the area being treated.

How soon will I see results?

Results can be seen about five to seven days after the first treatment, however a series of treatments is recommended in order to achieve optimal results.

Are there any potential side effects?

Minor irritation of the skin can occur, resulting in slight pinking of the skin. The skin should return to normal color within a few days. The exfoliated skin painlessly peels away, revealing newer, fresher skin.

Dermaplaning | Hydrafacial MD | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Dermaplane

Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliating treatment utilizing a surgical blade to remove the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face and neck. The vellus hair can trap oil and dirt, causing the complexion to appear dull, flaky, and can even cause breakouts due to clogged pores and hair follicles. By removing the hair and outer layer of dead skin, a brighter and smoother complexion is revealed immediately post treatment.

Microdermabrasion | Hydrafacial MD | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that uses a mechanical vibratory treatment to gently abrade the outer layer of skin. When this outer layer is removed, the younger, tighter, more radiant skin underneath is revealed. Morpheus8 | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Morpheus8

What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a rejuvenating fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, tissues of the face and neck can be remodeled to reveal a more youthful appearance.

How does Morpheus8 work?

Morpheus works by inserting a tip with multiple needles into the face or body, then fires radio frequency energy (heat) at the end of the tip. This creates a purposeful, controlled series of micro injuries under the dermis which then causes your own body to react and repair the area treated to give results.

What should I expect?

Visible results on the surface of the skin may start to show as early as a week after treatment but typically the most noticeable results on the surface level will be noticeable around 3-4 weeks. These improvements will continue for up to 3 months after treatment.

True neocollagenesis and tightening of the skin will take much longer; expect about 6-12 months to see full collagen and tightening results from your treatments.

This treatment involves creating tiny channels then firing heat energy once under the skin. To help make this treatment more comfortable, we schedule clients to come in prior to actual treatment time so we can apply a topical numbing cream to the area being treated.

How often should I get a Morpheus8?

As a general rule most people will require 3 treatments for best results. This may vary somewhat person to person depending on the severity of the specific concerns you are trying to treat. It is recommended to wait about 6 weeks between treatments.

What are the benefits of Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 stimulates your body to repair itself and create new collagen. This neocollagenesis that happens can improve a variety of different skin concerns such as:

  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity
  • Nasal labial fold lines
  • Acne scarring
  • Enlarged pores
  • Body and facial scars
  • Stretch marks

How is it different from regular microneedling with a pen?

Traditional microneedling pens do not have the ability to go as deep into the skin. They also do not have the benefit of firing the radiofrequency energy deep into the dermis for that targeted, enhanced micro injury leading to enhanced collagen productivity.

Rejuvenate your skin with Microneedling & PRP

  • Decrease wrinkles
  • Decrease aging skin
  • Decrease laxity
  • Increase suppleness
  • Increase firmness
  • Increase volume

How does it work?

PRP is a component of human blood that contains a high concentration of platelets. Platelets release growth factors that stimulate collagen synthesis and reverse and repair the damage seen in aging skin on a molecular level, resulting in firmer, thicker, more supple skin. PRP is safe and effective on all skin types, gives natural-looking results, provides a longer duration of correction, and can even prevent future damage.

What is involved in the treatment?

This in-spa treatment begins with a simple blood draw. Your blood is separated in a medical device to concentrate the PRP. The PRP is then applied to the skin as the microneedling takes place. Topical numbing makes the procedure quite tolerable. The entire process takes about one hour.

What results should I expect?

Improvements in skin tone and texture are noticeable within 3 weeks. Collagen regeneration requires 3 months. The treatment may be repeated in a series of 3, every 4-6 weeks for best results.

Mild swelling, redness, and/or bruising may be expected in the initial 12-24 hours after treatment, but resolve quickly.

A professional skin care regimen and laser and light therapies can enhance your results over time.

What is Profile?

Profile is a combination of two laser technologies, and sets a new standard for laser skin peels, allowing your physician to precisely vary the depth and the effect of your laser peel. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.

What is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is one of the leading cosmetic procedures in the United States. The process utilizes a laser to minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles, as well as improve the overall texture of the skin.

What will the Profile laser do?

Your physician will use Profile to remove thin layers of your skin’s surface, which will be replaced by younger skin growth. Only Profile has the ability to provide a treatment that is optimized to your skin condition. Your wrinkles will soften and become less noticeable, some will disappear; and pigmented lesions will greatly improve.

How long will it take me to recover?

Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment depth, and you may experience erythema (redness) which may last several weeks. Healing time does vary among individuals. Your physician can answer questions about temporary changes to your skin color and how they may be camouflaged.

What aftercare will I need?

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. You will be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk for infection and ensure the shortest healing time. The top layer of your skin will re-grow and may be covered with make-up in about one week. Your new skin will be very sensitive to ultraviolet light and you must avoid sun exposure until fully healed. You need to cover your skin, wear a hat and use a good sunscreen if you have to go outdoors.

Botox | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Botox, Dysport, & Daxxify

Neuromodulators

What are neuromodulators?

Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. Botox and Dysport work beneath the surface and temporarily reduce the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults – to help them look better.

Botox and Dysport primarily address lines in the skin known as “dynamic wrinkles,” which includes crow’s feet around the eyes and wrinkles visible while smiling, laughing or raising the eyebrows. These lines are normally less noticeable when your face is relaxed. This treatment may also be used for vertical bands in the neck as well as down-turning corners of the mouth.
Candidates generally range from the ages of 25 to 70. Each patient is unique, however, so a one-on-one consultation is recommended to determine the best and most effective treatment plan.

Following treatment, clients usually return to their jobs and normal activities immediately. It is recommended, however, that you avoid exercise, heavy lifting and massaging the injected area for one to two days.

How do neuromodulators work?

Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport block signals from the nerves to the muscles. Since the injected muscles can no longer contract, the area relaxes and softens.

What should I expect?

Our providers inject a small amount of Botox or Dysport with a fine needle into the targeted areas. The amount of liquid which enters the skin is very small, and clients experience only minimal discomfort in the form of a slight pinch. No anesthetic is necessary, and you can continue with your everyday activities immediately following the procedure. Clients will usually start to see the effects three to fourteen days following the injection.

Botox and Dysport are sold by the unit. The number of units required to treat each area varies from client to client. It is best to come in for a complimentary consultation to find out if you’re a good candidate and how many units you will need to achieve optimal results.

How often should I get neuromodulators?

Results normally last for three to four months. After three to four months, the effects begin to wear off and wrinkles reappear, though often not as deep or visible as they were prior to treatment. In order to sustain smooth skin and a youthful look, three to four injections yearly are usually required. By returning for repeat treatments, fewer injections may be required in the future to maintain young-looking skin.

What are the benefits of neuromodulators?

Relax and soften expression lines.

BotoxⓇ For Hyperhidrosis | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

BotoxⓇ For Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating or perspiration that can occur in the armpits. This embarrassing condition can now be treated by the physicians at Refine MD with BOTOX®. When deodorant or topical agents no longer work, BOTOX® injections can effectively be used to reduce excess sweating. Patients typically notice significant reduction in sweating within four weeks of their first treatment.

BOTOX® is FDA-approved for excessive underarm sweating. The treatment helps control the condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the excessive sweating stops.

If you live or work in Menasha, Appleton, Neenah or the greater Fox Cities in Wisconsin and are interested in learning more about BOTOX® to treat hyperhidrosis, please schedule a free consultation by calling us at 920.380.9990 or contact us.

What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive perspiration – more than the human body’s physiological needs. Every day, our body perspires to maintain constant internal body temperature. Perspiration is balanced by what we call the sympathetic nervous system. This system controls millions of sweat glands in the body. Hyperhidrosis can be sudden or episodic or continuous.

How long does the treatment last?

According to studies, the average BOTOX® treatment for excessive armpit sweating lasts for approximately 6 months.

When will I notice the difference, and how long will it last?

You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment. There is a possibility that some sweat glands may be missed, and you may continue to experience some sweating from the untreated areas. If you do not see a significant reduction in sweating, you should contact us for a follow-up consultation.

Are the Botox injections painful?

The injection needle is very small so discomfort is typically minimal. The pinching sensation experienced lasts only a short time, and numbing cream can be used to decrease the mild discomfort. You will return to your usual activities without any painful after effects.

What happens as treatment begins to wear off?

After approximately six months, the effects of BOTOX® begin to wear off and increased sweating will gradually reappear. Before this point, you should discuss continuing treatment with our physician.

Is there any downtime?

No. Following treatment, patients usually return to their jobs and normal activities immediately. It is recommended, however, that you avoid exercise, heavy lifting and massaging the injected area for one day.

How much does BOTOX® for Hyperhidrosis Cost?

Every person’s situation is unique and will require a consultation. Please contact us to schedule a complimentary consultation.

How do I get started?

If you’re considering a treatment and are interested in learning how BOTOX® can help reduce excessive sweating, please schedule a free consultation by calling RefineMD at 920.380.9990 or contact us.

Juvederm | Hydrafacial MD | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Juvederm Family of Fillers & Voluma

As we age a naturally hydrating substance found in the skin, called hyaluronic acid, diminishes resulting in a less youthful appearance. One of the ways Refine MD aesthetic medical spa in Menasha, WI, treats the loss of volume is with Juvéderm® XC, a hyaluronic gel filler. Juvéderm® XC instantly smooths away lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nose, the jawline and under eyes. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like parentheses lines around the nose and mouth. Juvéderm® XC contains lidocaine, a built-in numbing agent that has improved the comfort of the treatment. Results typically last up to one year with a single treatment.

PDO Threads | Hydrafacial MD | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

PDO Thread Lift

At Refine MD, we are thrilled to offer this new PDO absorbable Thread Lift procedure to our clients. The PDO Thread Lift procedure safely and instantly lifts loose skin on the face, neck and the body with minimal downtime..

Thread Lift is one the most effective ways to lift the loose skin without surgery. As we age, the effects of gravity become more noticeable on our faces, especially as our facial support structure weakens and we lose facial fat. The areas that are generally affected are the eyebrows, areas around the eyes, the cheeks, the jowls and the neck. The result is a longer, more square-shaped and older-looking face.

Traditionally, most people would look into plastic surgery to get a facelift because there weren’t very effective noninvasive treatments to lift loose skin. However, now there is an effective nonsurgical option that can lift and contour and suspend the sagging tissues on the face, neck and the body, especially for those who need only minimal to moderate rejuvenation or for those that do not wish to undergo surgical intervention.

What Is The Assufil Italian PDO Thread Lift And How Does It Work?

Italian PDO threads are hypodermic needles preloaded with a synthetic PDO absorbable suture. PDO (polydioxanone) sutures are surgical sutures. All sutures are FDA-approved and PDO sutures are one of the safest materials that can be used in the body. Your skin will fully absorb the PDO threads within 4 to 6 months without leaving any scar tissue.

While the sutures are underneath the skin, they cause a “selective inflammatory response” to produce collagen to create a longer-lasting result: This is the principle behind many aesthetic procedures (such as fractional lasers, skin tightening treatments and microneedling). Our skin is excellent at repairing itself, and by inserting the PDO threads underneath the skin to lift the loose skin, the skin will heal itself by creating new collagen naturally!

Your Skin Gently Reacts To The Inserted Threads

Yes, PDO is fully absorbable, but that doesn’t mean your skin won’t react to it. During the 4-6 months needed to fully absorb the PDO suture, your skin is also repairing itself around it

It is “controlled healing” happening underneath the skin!

Who Is A Good Candidate For PDO Thread Lift?

For the right candidate, the Thread Lift can provide a pleasing, natural rejuvenation of the face with the benefit of no general anesthesia, rapid recovery and very minimal cost compared to a facelift or a necklift. Thread Lift may be combined with other, more minor surgical procedures, such as Botox, Injectable Fillers, Skintyte, microneedling or skin resurfacing lasers.

Ideal candidates for thread lifts include:

  • People with minimal signs of aging who need just a small lift. Good candidates are those patients who are starting to see some droopiness of the brow, cheeks, jowls and/or neck and would like to see a lift effect, but do not want the risk, scars, or recovery of a real browlift, facelift, or necklift operation
  • People who have had some relapse from a previous plastic surgery procedure such as a facelift or neck lift
  • People who do not wish to undergo a surgical facelift or necklift for various reasons such as not wanting the prolonged recovery of a standard facelift or do not wish to spend money on an expensive facelift

Which Areas Can Be Treated With The PDO Threads?

  • People who have excessive cutaneous laxity and very loose excessive skin
People who have poor subcutaneous thickness or implants under the skin
  • People with collagen diseases (Lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc..)
  • People being treated with anticoagulant drugs for a medical condition

Which Areas Can Be Treated With The PDO Threads?

Most popular treatment areas are the brows, cheeks (midface), jowls, and the upper neck. However, Thread Lift can be performed virtually anywhere on the body, such as to lift loose skin on the upper arms, abdomen, thighs and around the knees

How Is The PDO Thread Lift Performed?

  • The areas to be treated will be numbed with topical anesthetic
  • The areas to be treated are then marked
  • The threads are then inserted under the skin in precise locations using a small needle with the thread attached to lift and support droopy elements without removing any skin. The inserted thread is then able to grasp onto the droopy skin and soft tissue to reposition the skin. This requires no cuts or incisions. It’s purely done by injections
  • With the lift effect secured, the needle is removed and the thread stays secure within the tissue placed
  • Depending on the desired effect of the lift, few to several sutures will be used
  • The PDO suture remains underneath the skin. Different sutures and lengths will be used depending upon the area(s) you need lifted

A facial Thread Lift suture that remains underneath skin and offered at Refine MD medical aesthetic spa in Northeast Wisconsin.
There are 2 different types of PDO threads and techniques:

Barbed Threads: These threads are used for some individuals depending on the desired outcome. These threads have tiny barbs on the entire thread length to gather tissue to lift the cheeks and sagging skin where the threads are placed. This technique produces a more dramatic and immediate result. The skin will then build new collagen, which will secure the lift and give the lift a longer-lasting result.

Smooth Threads: These threads are smaller than the barbed sutures and are smooth (no barbs on the thread). These threads are placed under the skin vertically and horizontally to create a “mesh”. This Mesh will serve as the foundation for new collagen production in the skin. The results appear naturally and gradually to improve fine lines and firm the skin.

The two types of threads include barbed and smooth threads during the PDO thread lift procedure offered at Refine MD medical aesthetic spa in Northeast Wisconsin.

What Is The Recovery Like After A Thread Lift?

Discomfort can usually be managed with acetaminophen (Tylenol). You may have mild swelling and bruising for a few days. Icing the treated area as well as arnica is recommended for the first few days. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity for the first several days

What Kind Of Results Can Be Expected After The PDO Thread Lift And How Long Do The Results Last?

The result of the Thread Lift is immediate and even more noticeable after 1-2 weeks when all the swelling and potential bruising has resolved. The results will continue to enhance as your skin produces even more collagen over the next several months, which will also make the thread lift results last longer than the life of the threads. More threads can always be inserted later to continue to improve the results and prolong the results even more.

What Are The Side Effects Of The Thread Lift?

Like any procedure using a needle, there is a chance of bruising and swelling. However, in most people, the bruising and swelling are minimal and resolve in less than a week. There is some post-procedure discomfort which usually resolves quickly in most patients. If the sutures become visible underneath the skin or migrate, they can be easily removed if necessary and new threads can be placed.

Kybella | Hydrafacial MD | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Kybella®️

It is the only FDA-approved treatment of its type that destroys fat cells under the chin to create a more aesthetically-pleasing facial profile.

Frequently treated by surgery, fat beneath the chin can now be treated with a less invasive, injectable option — KYBELLA®️. KYBELLA®️ works by using a molecule that occurs naturally in the body to break down dietary fat. When injected into the fat under the chin, KYBELLA®️ targets fat cells and prevents them from accumulating and storing fat. Because of this action, once full treatment with KYBELLA®️ has been completed, further treatments are not expected.

Treatment is available only from KYBELLA®️-trained healthcare specialists, as are our providers at Refine MD. Before treatment, one of our providers will examine the area under your chin to determine if treatment with KYBELLA®️ is the right choice for you. Your provider will then adjust treatment according to each patient’s specific goals.

At the time of treatment, your provider will perform several small injections under the chin after applying a numbing agent for comfort. The procedure is quite simple and takes 15 to 20 minutes. Clients may experience a mild to moderate stinging sensation temporarily after treatment. Swelling, bruising, and numbness are the common side effects after treatment. A patient may receive up to six similar treatments at intervals of at least one month. The number of sessions will be tailored to the needs and goals of the patient.

What is Profile?

Profile is an infrared laser that can selectively target microstructures such as hair follicles. It is very effective for lighter skin types, and because of the relatively low absorption of this light by melanin, it is the best choice when treating darker skin types. Additionally, the ability to safely treat sun-tanned skin makes this the treatment of choice for active individuals.

What treatments are available?

Waxing, shaving, and the use of depilatory creams are well-established methods for hair removal, although temporary. Electrolysis is the traditional tried and tested method for permanent hair removal but is often very time-consuming and inefficient. These days, the most popular and most effective method for hair removal is the use of lasers which have been specifically designed to damage and destroy many hairs in a short time, with little chance of complications. People are interested in laser hair removal because it involves new and efficient technology and because its effects are permanent in over 80% of its subjects.

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal offers patients a safe, fast, and effective alternative for dealing with unwanted hair. Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that is passed through the skin and preferentially absorbed by its target, i.e., unwanted blood vessels, birthmarks, or in this case, hair. The laser used in hair removal targets the melanin (color) in the hair follicle, damaging the follicle and removing the hair.

Laser hair removal is safe enough to be used on all body parts, including the face, back, underarms, bikini line, legs, and arms.

Can all skin colors be treated?

Yes, all skin types I through VI can be treated. Skin Type I is very fair, always burns, and never tans (usually blonde hair and blue eyes). Skin Type VI never burns (black skin, black hair).

Can tanned skin be treated?

Tanned skin can be treated safely, but always inform your physician if you have been tanning or exposed to the sun within the last three weeks. (S)he will adjust your treatment regimen accordingly to give you the safest, most effective experience.

What happens during hair removal treatment?

Your physician will discuss the treatment with you and decide if you need a topical anesthetic cream. The area of your skin that is to be treated will be scanned with laser light from the Profile system. Treatment time will depend upon the area to be treated. A system for cooling your skin will be used to remove heat as it leaves the follicles and should ensure a comfortable treatment. However, since the sensation varies from individual to individual, topical anesthesia can be provided. Let your physician know if you are very sensitive.

How does it work?

The Profile laser selectively targets your hair follicles and heats them with infra-red energy. Unlike other processes, the laser beam treats many hairs at once, making treatment of large areas practical. The Profile employs a unique computer-guided scanning system that automates the treatment, ensuring that your skin is rapidly and evenly treated. The computer sets the parameters and places the beam in an optimum pattern for your skin. You will have a safe, fast, effective, and gentle treatment.

What should I expect after treatment?

Some redness and slight swelling may be present in the area that has been treated; however, this should subside within a few hours. If any prolonged redness or swelling occurs, then consult your physician.

Keep the area clean.

Use at least SPF 15 sunscreen when outdoors.

Follow physician instructions.

Is there a risk of complications?

There is a low risk of pigmentary changes; however, discuss your concerns with your physician prior to your treatment.

Can pseudofolliculitis be treated?

Yes. Pseudofolliculitis is a type of chronic acne disorder caused by ingrown coarse or curly hairs. This disorder affects darker skin types and the infrared energy, which is delivered by Profile. This is the preferred method of treatment.

Is treatment permanent?

On average, each laser treatment will be associated with some permanent hair loss. So in most cases, hair removal can only be achieved after several treatments. The number of treatments will depend on each patient’s individual response to laser surgery, and the amount of hair to be removed. Remember that the goal may not be total hair removal. Many patients are happy with a reasonable degree of hair reduction. Also remember that the hair that remains is often lighter in color and thinner than the original hair prior to laser surgery. As with other treatments for unwanted hair, there is no guarantee that laser hair removal treatment will be permanent.

How many treatments will I need?

You may need to be treated 6 times at approximately 6-week intervals. There are three phases of hair growth – anagen, catagen, and telogen. Only hairs in the active growth, anagen, can be successfully treated.

Does treatment hurt? What can I expect with the procedure?

Most patients describe laser hair removal as feeling “prickly,” or like the light snap of a rubber band against the skin. Afterward, it might feel like a bad sunburn. Each patient has his or her own level of skin sensitivity and pain threshold. Different areas of the body are also more sensitive than others.

On the day of your treatment, plan on wearing clothing that will allow easy access to the treated area. You may not need any type of anesthesia for your treatments. Laser hair removal works best when the hair is 1 to 2 millimeters in length. No specific care is needed after the treatment.

How long will it take my skin to heal?

Normally, the skin looks red and swollen for up to 48 hours, possibly longer. Some patients will be offered to have a small area tested before undergoing full treatment. This gives them an idea of how the treatment will feel and the length of time it will take to obtain the desired result. Occasionally, patients can develop a blistering reaction. If this happens, call your treating physician and ask for specific post-laser treatment options.

What will I look like immediately afterwards?

Generally, some redness will remain for approximately five to seven days. For some patients recovery time will be less while other patients will have prolonged redness.

How much does treatment cost?

The cost of treatment is dependent on many factors. These factors include the size of the area treated and the number of treatments necessary.

Will my insurance cover treatment?

Unwanted hair is usually a cosmetic issue, so in most cases you should expect to pay for treatment. In the rare instances where treatment is considered medically-necessary, insurance may cover the cost of treatment. It’s best to speak to your doctor and your insurance company to clarify this question.

Allura | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Allura-Prolipo Laser-Assisted Liposuction

Perhaps you’ve tried dieting and exercise, but you’re still not satisfied with certain areas of your body. Sometimes we need extra help improving our body shape, especially troublesome spots such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, arms, and back. However, you’re not interested in traditional surgery and can’t afford a lot of recovery time. The physicians at Refine MD in Menasha, WI, understand this common dilemma and have added the Allura™ Rapid Contour Results system to their body sculpting suite of technology.

Allura™, previously named ProLipo Plus™, is a laser-based alternative to traditional liposuction. It’s a minimally invasive approach to permanent fat reduction that requires only local anesthesia so patients are awake. There’s less bruising and recovery time than traditional lipo. The procedure is performed at Refine MD’s comfortable, in-office surgical suite. Patients go home the same day as the procedure. Plus, skin tightening occurs in addition to the fat reduction because a laser is used during the procedure. The laser heats the skin causing collagen remodeling, which results in tighter skin. With traditional liposuction, there’s no skin tightening. Results can be seen immediately with continued improvement over a few months.

The physicians at Refine MD have had specialized training for laser-assisted lipolysis. Dr. Solis-Rohr and Dr. Carrie Blanc perform Allura™ laser liposuction for women and men. And, Refine MD is a multi-time winner of the Best of the Valley Reader’s Choice, so you can be confident in their care.

Advantages Of Allura™ Laser Assisted Lipolysis:

  • Comfortable and Quick Body Contouring
  • Laser Liposuction with Allura™ plus is minimally invasive, a quick procedure, and allows fast recovery. It does not require general anesthesia, so patients can be safely treated while awake.
  • Minimal Downtime – Patients return home the same day and can resume normal activities within a few days.
  • Permanent Fat Reduction
  • Improves Overall Body Shape
  • Minimally Invasive
  • Coagulation Resulting in Skin Tightening
  • Multiple body areas may be performed during the same session

The most common body areas Refine MD treats with laser lipo are:

• “Bra Fat”
• Abdomen or Tummy
• “Love Handles”
• “Saddle Bags”
• Thighs
• Flanks (Back Fat)

Frequently Asked Questions

How does AlluraTM Laser Liposuction for Body Sculpting work?

AlluraTM uses a high-energy laser wavelength to melt fat cells. A small cannula (or tube) is inserted into the skin while a laser fiber inside the cannula delivers energy directly to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and drain away as liquid. Then the skin (dermal tissue) around the area is heated, which results in skin tightening.

What areas of the body can be treated with Laser Liposuction?

Laser-assisted body sculpting is ideal for “bra fat or bra roll,” abdomen, “love handles,” “saddle bags,” thighs, and knees.

How do I know if I’m a good candidate?

Allura™ is meant for areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. The perfect candidate is in good health and of normal body weight.

How does it compare to conventional liposuction?

Conventional liposuction requires general anesthesia and is meant to remove greater amounts of fat. In addition, conventional liposuction can leave behind loose or sagging skin. Allura™ provides moderate skin tightening along with fat reduction.

How does Allura™ compare to other laser lipolysis (liposuction) treatments?

Allura™ employs dual wavelength capability (1064 nm and 1319 nm), providing the choice to use each wavelength individually or to combine the benefits of both for optimal body sculpting results.

How long is the recovery period?

This treatment is a minimally invasive procedure which usually requires only local anesthesia. Some light bruising can occur, but you’ll be able to return to work in just a couple of days and resume exercise after two weeks.

How many treatments are required?

Typically only one treatment is required. Results can be seen within a week, with continued improvement over three to six months. A compression garment may be worn for a short period of time after treatment, depending on the body area treated.

How much does it cost?

Allura™ varies in cost depending upon the body part being treated. Please contact us for a complimentary consultation to see if you’re a good candidate and for fee information.

Morpheus 8 Body | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Morpheus8 Body

What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a rejuvenating fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, tissues of the body can be remodeled to reveal a more youthful, tighter, smoother appearance. The Morpheus8 body treatment has the ability to go deeper into the skin to remodel unwanted fat in the body as well.

How does Morpheus8 Body work?

Morpheus works by inserting a tip with multiple needles, then fire radio frequency energy (heat) at the end of the tip. This creates a purposeful, controlled series of micro injuries under the dermis which then causes your own body to react and repair the area treated to give results. When desired, your clinician can change the settings to also ablate unwanted fat in the area treated. Over the course of several weeks after treatment your body will naturally process the ablated fat cells and remove them through your lymphatic system. Morpheus can also use this same technology to treat excessive sweating in underarms, feet, and hands.

What should I expect?

Visible results on the surface of the skin may start to show as early as a few weeks after treatment. These improvements will continue for months after treatment.

True neocollagenesis and tightening of the skin will take longer; expect about 6-12 months to see full collagen and tightening results from your treatments.

This treatment involves creating tiny channels then firing heat energy once under the skin. To help make this treatment more comfortable, we schedule clients to come in prior to actual treatment time so we can apply a topical numbing cream to the area being treated.

What areas of the body have Morpheus8 body treat?

Morpheus8 Body can be done almost anywhere on the body where you have skin concerns! Popular areas for treatment include stomach, especially for post-baby skin laxity and texture, underarm “batwings” and upper legs.

What the the benefits of Morpheus8 body?

Morpheus8 Body can improve a variety of concerns such as:

What is the Profile vascular laser?

Profile is a new laser using infrared energy and the new standard for the treatment of many skin conditions. Profile allows your physician to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, lesions, and discoloration of your skin. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.

What conditions can be treated?

• Rosacea
• Redness
• Spider veins
• Facial Veins
• Broken Capillaries
• Varicose Veins
• Telangiectasia

What will the Profile laser do?

Your physician will use Profile to restore your skin’s youthful color. Broken capillaries and other visible vascular structures will be gently eliminated from the visible layers of your skin’s surface. The Profile has the ability to provide a treatment that is optimized for your skin condition. Unwanted lesions will be preferentially heated by the laser energy and become less noticeable; some will disappear, and pigmented lesions will greatly improve.

What areas can be treated?

All skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest, and legs. Discuss your needs with your physician.

Is there a risk?

There is little risk for the treatment of these benign conditions. In some cases, repeat treatment will be necessary depending on your response to the treatment and the desired result.

How long will it take me to recover?

Your healing time will depend upon your treatment, and you may experience erythema (redness) that may last several days. There is virtually no recovery time, and you may resume an active lifestyle immediately. Your physician can answer questions about temporary changes to your skin color and how they may be camouflaged.

What should I expect after treatment?

Some temporary redness may be present in the area that has been treated, however, this should subside within a few hours. Your skin will have a pink or red color that will resolve over time. You will need to avoid direct sun exposure or use a sun block of at least SPF 15 when outdoors.

Will it be uncomfortable?

There is little to no discomfort; however this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. There is no need for anesthesia, and your physician will discuss your options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment. There will be no post-treatment discomfort.

What will happen during the procedure?

Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. Profile’s laser beam will be delivered to the area of your skin being treated. You may briefly feel a warm or hot sensation as the laser pulses are preferentially absorbed in the unwanted vessels, heating and destroying them. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated.

What aftercare will I need?

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. You may be given some skin care products and instructions on using them. This will minimize your risk for inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest response time. Your body will reabsorb any vessels or pigment denatured by the laser over a period of time in a natural cleaning process. Most small capillaries will become invisible almost immediately since they will no longer contain blood flow.

Your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, and you must avoid direct sun exposure. Most of the conditions treated by the laser will have been caused by sun exposure, so avoiding sunlight will prolong your new youthful appearance. You need to cover your skin or use good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.

What is laser vein treatment?

Laser therapy is a proven treatment for treating unsightly broken and dilated vessels and other unwanted vascular lesions such as rosacea, port wine stains, and other vascular birthmarks. In fact, the latest advances in laser technology have given us a method for removal that is safer, faster, and more effective than previous methods.

How does laser vein treatment work?

Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that passes through the skin and is preferentially absorbed by its target, which can be unwanted hair, birthmark, tattoo, or in this case, the hemoglobin (the red portion of blood) in the unwanted vessels. The heat from the laser causes the vein to break up and disappear. There are several lasers available that work remarkably well in treating unwanted veins.

What can I expect with the procedure?

Most people describe laser vein treatment as feeling like the snap of a rubber band against the skin. You may be given a topical anesthetic cream to numb the area to be treated. Any discomfort can be eased with the application of cool compresses. After treatment, you can immediately return to normal activities.

How soon will I see results? Are there any side effects?

Because laser vein treatment works by causing the unwanted vein to break up and dissolve, resolution of the unwanted vein will take place over the course of several weeks. The most common side effect is bruising, or purpura, around the treated area. This will resolve within days of the treatment and occurs only with some lasers used. Your doctor can discuss any other risks of laser surgery with you personally.

What are facial veins?

Facial veins are fine blood vessels (otherwise known as telangiectasia) located on the face, usually around the nose and central cheeks. They can result from cumulative sun exposure, genetics, or rosacea. Many patients also refer to these as “broken” blood vessels or capillaries.

What are the costs involved?

Costs for each treatment session can range from $250 to $500.

Will insurance cover this procedure?

In some cases yes. Laser vein treatments, like other cosmetic procedures, are not usually covered by your insurance company. If you have any questions, it is best to talk with your provider.

How many treatments are necessary? Is the treatment permanent?

Depending on the severity of the condition, multiple treatments may be required. Improvement generally lasts for several years, but over time new facial veins will develop, requiring a touch-up treatment at a later date.

What treatments are considered medically necessary vs. cosmetic?

Treatment of facial veins is considered cosmetic; consequently, medical insurance does not cover the cost.

Sclerotherapy | Medical Spa in Menasha, WI

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to eliminate varicose veins and spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution directly into the vein. The solution causes them to collapse and over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view. It is offered for larger spider veins and some varicose veins. A combination of both Laser Vein Treatments and Sclerotherapy may be suggested for optimal results.

The solution is injected through a very fine needle directly into the vein. At this point, you may experience mild discomfort and cramping for one to two minutes, especially when larger veins are injected. The procedure itself takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes.

The number of veins injected in one session depends on the size and location of the veins and the comfort of the client. Multiple treatments may be necessary, and a medical-grade compression garment is recommended for optimal results.

The blood is then separated to produce platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The PRP is injected into the numbed area near the clitoris and upper vagina. There is virtually no recovery time, and results can be immediate in some women.

Almost anyone can get an O-Shot. Your Refine MD physician will evaluate you to determine if this procedure is right for you. Women both on and off HRT- may benefit.
